Fortune Cookie Lettering

In my down time, I started hand lettering fortune cookie fortunes and here is progress I've made so far. Below are inkings and a vectorized hand lettering of a few of the fortunes.

I have well over 50 fortunes since I started collecting the fortunes that tickled my fancy. If you like these you might see more... Is this something worth pursuing? You tell me.

Best Mom Ever

It's Mother's Day, and not to brag, but I happen to have the Best. Mom. EVER. I even have a card to prove it. SEE. Seriously she's the best mom ever. I made her this.

Hamsters at work- Color Roughs

Let's go on illustration journey. I thought I would take you along on the process I use when creating an illustration. Remember those hamsters from yesterday? They've made it to the color rough phase. This phase gives me the opportunity to play with the color and adjust before I get down to the detail work part of the project.

I've decided I would share the way I like to build my photoshop layers to make editing the colors simple. Each hamster is his own group with a fill and line art. I then grouped all the hamsters together so I can move them if needed as a group and turn off their visibility as a group to work on the background. This also keeps my layers organized when I have a document with many many layers. Navigating layers is a challenge when you don't name the layers and you have to figure out which later that weird smudge is on.

Happy Monday morning everyone. Here are some warm up sketches I'm sharing to start the week.

Chocolate Chip Cookies

Everyone loves cookies, well most people do. What's even better is when a family makes those cookies together. Check out this new addition to my portfolio, an illustration of a family baking together.  You can view more of my work here.

As a bonus I've included a recipe for chocolate chip cookies. The recipe calls for shortening, please note you should use a trans-fat free shortening.
