Hamsters at Work- Color Roughs Again
Sharing more of my process with the Hamster at Work Illustration. As you see the color rough process is complete.
I'm still tweaking the colors, I'm not crazy about the color of the denim against the blue tube, but a red or yellow, a color that would contrast nicely with the blue, fights too much with the denim to capture the attention of the eye. I'm thinking a I'll darken the denim and move the color of the tube to a greenish blue or maybe a more true blue. I'll play with it and see what looks best, what doesn't fight with the hamsters for focus.

Hamsters at work- Color Roughs
Let's go on illustration journey. I thought I would take you along on the process I use when creating an illustration. Remember those hamsters from yesterday? They've made it to the color rough phase. This phase gives me the opportunity to play with the color and adjust before I get down to the detail work part of the project.
I've decided I would share the way I like to build my photoshop layers to make editing the colors simple. Each hamster is his own group with a fill and line art. I then grouped all the hamsters together so I can move them if needed as a group and turn off their visibility as a group to work on the background. This also keeps my layers organized when I have a document with many many layers. Navigating layers is a challenge when you don't name the layers and you have to figure out which later that weird smudge is on.

New Art, and Hard working Hamsters.
Have a new sketch and some art to share on this Thursday morning. First some hamsters who are taking a well deserved lunch break.

The art, a new addition to my portfolio, is a fire station with some special visitors.

Her Birthday was last weekend so it's safe to post this now. Here's a tiny piece of a Beauty and the Beast name plate I made for my equally beautiful niece.

Moms in Space!
I was dared to draw a "Moms in Space" concept, so here you go. I was really digging the idea of a space stroller too so of course my space mom had to be pushing one. It's a fun concept I think will eventually end up in my portfolio.

Happy Friday the 13th. For this morning's warmup, here's a Friday the 13th/Peanuts mashup.
I imagine the G in TGIF stands for "Good Grief" in this case.
